Meet Paddy

Rents are skyrocketing, garbage is everywhere, storefronts are empty, the streets and subways are less safe, our schools and parks are underfunded, and unfair property taxes are squeezing out homeowners. These are the issues our neighbors care most about and it’s time to start electing compassionate, actionable leaders who will put the real concerns of our community first. Progress doesn’t need to be at the expense of our peace and quality of life. With your vote, we can have a cleaner and safer neighborhood, while also fighting for a progressive and green future.

Like many of our proud neighbors, I was born into many generations of a working class family. My single mother raised me and my four brothers on a public school teacher’s wage, often working multiple jobs and even then it wasn’t always enough to keep the lights on. READ MORE

ON THE ISSUES

My Priorities

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

The repeal of Roe v. Wade is an assault on women, the working class, and the poor who will not have the resources to access safe abortion. I will always stand up to protect choice, universal safe access, and the rights of women across New York State. Furthermore New York shall always act as a welcoming safe haven for out-of-state women seeking reproductive healthcare.

SERVE OUR SENIORS

Seniors are the most admirable and deserving members of our community, yet their needs and concerns are often unfairly overlooked by politicians and government decision makers. This is why I’m making the needs of seniors one of my top priorities in this campaign, so that all seniors in our community can live long, healthy, happy, and dignified.

UNION STRONG

As a proud Union member I know first hand the benefits in work and life quality that a strong Union can provide. The recent resurgence of organizing efforts and labor victories are a positive signal in the fight for improving wages, benefits, and conditions for working-class Americans. We must continue this momentum and ensure all our lawmakers in Albany are firmly and unwaveringly, ‘Union Strong’.

PROPERTY TAX REFORM

Disproportionate property taxes are unjustly overburdening working and middle class homeowners. Seniors on fixed incomes are struggling to keep up with uncapped tax increases all while a luxury condo owner in Manhattan can effectively pay half the tax rate compared to a middle class family in Williamsburg or Greenpoint. The system is broken and now is the time for equitable, comprehensive, and transparent property tax reform across all of New York State.

CLIMATE ACTION NOW

The wave of recent storms and flooding in Greenpoint and Williamsburg should be an alarming signal to everyone that we can not sit idly in enacting measures to protect our community from climate change. I worked during the summer floods responding to countless emergencies and have seen first-hand the sheer devastation these now all-too-common events inflict upon our community. We must take immediate action to improve storm infrastructure protection and truly commit to investing in a future that is 100% renewable energy.

UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE

New York has among the highest health care costs in the world and they’re only rising. New Yorkers are literally sick and tired of being ripped off by predatory healthcare providers and greedy pharmaceutical companies. Our only solution is to pass the New York Health Act to establish single-payer health care across the State of New York.

SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT

We need to cut the red tape and make it simpler and cheaper for small and independent businesses to get off the ground and operate. Large chain stores and online retailers have been driving our beloved mom and pop shops out of business and diminishing the culture and character of our neighborhoods. Small businesses are the life and heart of our communities and we must make every effort to protect their survival and encourage growth.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Blue collar and white collar New Yorkers alike are frustrated and fed up with the increasing impossibility of ever owning their own home in this city and the growing housing shortage only makes it harder. We need to build housing to meet the demands of our growing population and work toward increasing homeownership rates among working class New Yorkers.

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING

I oppose the July 5th full-restoration of alternate side parking in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. The current rules have been working better for residents and should continue. I will do all in my power to make permanent the current rules, so we can reduce the unnecessary moving of vehicles and idling pollution in our neighborhoods.
