Accessibility

There are thousands of New Yorker living with varying physical and mental disabilities. No matter the type or severity, we need to work towards improvements that ensure all those living with a disability can live a dignified life that works for them. We must listen to those who require accommodation and be receptive of their experience-based suggestions.

AS YOUR ASSEMBLYMEMBER,
I WILL FIGHT TO:

  • Better accommodate those with physical disabilities on public transportation and for public services

  • Gather more accurate data for state agencies regarding the numbers of those living with disabilities

  • End sub-minimum wage discrimination for workers with disabilities. Guarantee all workers the minimum wage

  • Expand public-funded training and employment opportunities for the disabled

  • Encourage private businesses to incorporate the disabled into their workforce

  • Crack down on employers to who do not accommodate employees with disabilities and remove fear of retaliation from the minds of employees who speak out against disability discrimination

  • Require housing and commercial developers to build with accessibility in mind

  • Increase our knowledge of the various challenges faced by those living with disabilities and listen to those living with disabilities and be receptive to their suggestions

  • Ensure those living with mental and physical disabilities can live a dignified life
